| WELCOME TO PRESTON COUNTRY CLUB | |
Founded in 1925 on property originally belonging to George Washington, Preston Country Club offers golf and dining to the public as well as its members. As one of West Virginia's longest golf courses at 7001 yards from the tips, PCC has hosted the Men and Womens Tri-State for over 20 years, the Senior Tri-State and other area tournaments. We have been pleased to host civic groups, corporate outings, weddings, and parties for various occasions.
| GOLF
Essentially a flat course, it is excellent for walking although carts are available. Nestled in a flat area in the West Virginia mountains along Cheat River, Fall golf is particularly spectacular and Summer golf is noticeably cooler than at lower elevations. While the course may be relatively level, it does offer other challenges in addition to its length. The front 9, the original course, is partly tree lined with two holes along the road next to Cheat Rive r - not a good place for an over cooked draw. The back nine, built in 1965 by Edmund B. Ault (ASGCA), is particularly narrow on the closing holes.
Water is in play on 5 holes, as is sand on 17 holes. Most greens are undulating or significantly sloped. Some fairways include earthen mounds, the remains of the 1985 flood that destroyed the clubhouse, the pro shop and cart barn, and much of the course.
A putting green and driving range are near the pro shop. Pull carts and electric golf carts are available for rental.
